22/11/2017 FALCON at SemWeb .Pro 2017, Paris, France

The FALCON project was presented as an example of one of the Factories of the Future (FoF) projects using technological standards of the semantic web at the SemWeb.Pro event, which took place in Paris on 22nd November 2017.

FALCON partner, Yves Keraron from Isadeus, together with Philippe Magnabosco (AFNOR) and Christophe Mouton (EDF), presented the impact of web semantic standards to implement data integration norms in industry. Moreover, Dimitris Kiritsis from EPFL has shared the output of the works carried out in the Industry Ontologies Foundry and its application to the FALCON project.

An article about MEWS Partners MEWS Partners participation in FALCON H2020 project was released at the Cad Magazin. FALCON partners, Olivia Martin and Jean-Sébastien Gros from MEWS Partners, elaborated the FALCON approach which benefits from Products Usage Information (Internet of Things – IOT – and social media) on customer expectations and market trends to support innovation in the industries.

FALCON at the 27th RESER Conference in Bilbao, Spain

The FALCON project was presented at the special session of the 27th RESER Conference in Bilbao, Spain. At this conference RESER, is a European association for research on services, focused on reflection on the crucial role of services in business and cities competitiveness. The conference aims to capture frontier thinking in service research and to set a new research agenda to make sense of the full picture of economies and society as complex networks and systems of services.The conference was served as a forum for presentation and discussion of inter-disciplinary, innovative studies in service research. The event was addressed for scholars and practitioners of management, marketing, engineering, economics, sociology, geography, urbanism, among others.

Patrocia Ortiz Ugalde, FALCON partner from Datapixel presented the FALCON project at the Special Track Session: Smart specialization & service innovation. In her presentation, she explained FALCON approach, provided some example business cases of Datapixel on high-tech products which are implemented at FALCON as well as their strategy to exploit the project results after the project lifetime.

FALCON at 21st International Conference on Engineering Design in Vancouver, Canada

FALCON partner, Quan Deng from BIBA, presented some approaches and achievements of FALCON on the area of social media feedback integration for user-oriented product development at the International Conference on Engineering Design (ICED) in Vancouver, Canada from 21st to 25th August 2017. The main question addressed in his presentation was “How to flexibly and efficiently use distributed social media feedbacks to support product development in various domains?” The approach of the Social Media Wrapper, which is one of the prototypes developed in FALCON, allows sematic transformation, were explained by using an example of one of the business cases implemented in FALCON.

20/06/2017 FALCON at the 9th CIRP IPSS Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark

FALCON project was presented at the special session of the 9th CIRP IPSS Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. The conference, attended by more than 130 delegates, was focus its theme on “Circular Perspective on PSS”.

The special session on 20th June 2017, where FALCON was presented by Stefan Wiesner from BIBA, was a dedicated session to share and discuss theoretical achievements of the 6 PSS Cluster projects. The PSS Cluster is an initiative born in the context of the Horizon 2020 to facilitate the sharing of knowledge in the area of PSS design and engineering among the 6 projects, namely FALCON, Diversity, Psymbiosis, Manutelligencve, ProRegio, and ICP4Life.

23 – 24 /05/2017 FALCON – DIVERSITY Ontologies Workshop in Laussane

FALCON and DIVERSITY workshop, organized by FALCON partner EPFL, aimed at creating synergy, especially in the area of Ontology. The main questions addressed during the workshop including:
• How to meet business requirements?
• Should collected data be ontology-based information?
• How to standardize and use ontology?

Representatives from both FALCON and DIVERSITY projects presented the current results of research in the domain of Product-Service System. Participants discussed about knowledge and methodology to create ontology, data collection, and standardization within the context of ontology, as well as plan and activities for further collaboration.

DIVERSITY project aims at providing a concurrent environment for PSS design supporting companies from the context sensitive searching of knowledge to the transformation of these data into PSS functionalities. Further information about the DIVERSITY project, please visit www.diversity-project.eu

16/05/2017 FALCON presented at Factories of the Future Community Day in Brussels

The 1st Factories of the Future (FoF) Community Day hosted by EFFRA took place in Brussels on 16th May 2017. The event was attended by more than 160 representatives of industry, research and academia. The FoF Public Private Partnership has been developed as a large community and has become the biggest advanced manufacturing research and innovation programme in Europe.

The 1st community day event was organised into ten parallel sessions and enabled the FoF community to present and discuss their recent project results and future developments as well as exchange views on common challenges. FALCON as one of the FoF project representatives was presented in this event by Karl Hribernik from BIBA and Yves Keraron from Isadeus. Some other FALCON partners, including Haluk Gökmen (Arcelik), Eva Coscia (Holonix), Silvia de la Maza (Datapixel) participated also in this event.

28/04/2017 FALCON at the Digital Seminar in Toulouse, France

FALCON’s partner MEWS organised a digital seminar on 28th April 2017 in Toulouse. The seminar addressed the subject “From product to connected service, what is the impact on your companies?”. Olivia Martin from MEWS Partners presented FALCON approach and provided an example on how understanding and exploiting of product usage information may give impacts on company’s product-service innovation.

The event was attended by more than 50 people from diverse French industries. Positive feedbacks and interesting questions were received from the audiences concerning, among others, issues on adaptation of FALCON platform for companies.

30/03/2017 FALCON represented in Brussels at the 12th Annual Conference of the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing

Alessandro Canepa from i-deal S.R.L presented FALCON during the parallel session on the topic of Industry 4.0 – advance manufacturing and digital supply chains using digitisation and virtualisation to make textile manufacturing more flexible and textile-fashion value chains more responsive to fast-changing customer needs. The annual conference of the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing, having focused on textile research in HORIZON 2020 and beyond, took place on 30-31 March 2017 in Brussels.

The conference, attended by about 170 participants from more than 20 countries, aimed to provide a dissemination platform to all textile-related EU projects and facilitate a discussion between EU policy makers, industry and scientific community about further opportunities to implement a strategic innovation and research within H2020 and beyond.

13/03/2017 FALCON was invited by French Association ADELI

Yves Keraron from ISADEUS was invited by ADELI to deliver a talk about FALCON. ADELI is an association bringing together different actors to freely discuss the capabilities of digital spaces for collaboration and foster innovation.

Through this event, FALCON has received considerable attentions and very good feedback from different audiences such as experts involved in ITIL and ISO 20000, specialists of software quality as well as in services development, academics and consultants in organisation change and in legal aspects on data.

FALCON represented in Graz as one of the best Horizon 2020 Projects

FALCON was invited to Graz, Austria, by the SFG - Styrian Business Development Agency (Steirische Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft) on 1st of December 2016, as one of the best Horizon 2020 Projects which are shaping and realising the vision of the European Factories of the Future (FoF).
8 projects were presented at the event, titled “A journey into European factories of the future: The best Horizon 2020 projects are visiting Graz”. FALCON was selected as the only H2020 project funded in the call “FoF 5 – 2014: Innovative product-service design using manufacturing intelligence”.

Karl Hribernik from BIBA, FALCON technical coordinator, explained in his presentation which positive effects FALCON will have on the European manufacturing industry, besides highlighting FALCON’s technical and exploitation achievements so far. Following the project presentations, there were opportunities for participants to get information about the H2020 open calls and to network with other entrepreneurs and researchers from Austria and neighbouring countries. FALCON received a lot of interest and lessons learned and possibilities for future cooperations were discussed during the round table sessions in the afternoon.

01/12/2016 FALCON project at EFFRA FoF Impact Event in Brussels

FALCON was presented at the FoF Impact final event "Factories of the Future - Making Innovation Happen", organised by the European Factories of the Future Research Association (EFFRA) on 1st December 2016 in Brussels. The FoF Impact project, coordinated by EFFRA, aims to increase the impact of the European Union’s ‘Factories of the Future’ (FoF) partnership under Horizon 2020 and to speed up and increase the exploitation and up-take of FoF project results.
